Industry EXCELLENCE ACADEMY FOR

Theatrical & Media Make-up 

With the rise of an increasing number of online streaming platforms people’s obsession with TV, films and theatre continues to grow. As such, there is an increasing demand for highly trained professionals to fill a growing number of roles. 

In our Industry Excellence Academy for Theatrical and Media Make-up you’ll be able to turn your fascination in the way performers look into a career that will be spent transforming people into characters, using make-up, wigs and special effects. You’ll work closely with our Industry Excellence Academy for Creative & Digital Media and Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts, providing make-up and styling support on real working productions.

You’ll also study in our state-of-the-art facilities, including having access to our bespoke make-up studios, photography studios and special effects workshops, leaving you equipped with all the skills required to embark upon a successful career.

You’ll also receive dedicated ‘employability’ sessions with a named Employability Tutor to develop your skills and knowledge. In addition you will be allocated a dedicated Employability and Partnership Coordinator who will support you every step of the way helping to prepare you and equip you with the skills that you will need to thrive in the workplace. 

Available Courses

In our Industry Excellence Academy for Theatrical and Media Make-up you’ll take a course that has been co-developed, and is co-delivered, by one of our leading industry partners. You’ll complete either a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and a placement with an industry employer of at least 15 days. 

By the time you complete your time in the Industry Excellence Academy you’ll have developed an in-depth knowledge of this sector and gained work experience with industry leaders.

Outcomes

Studying in our Industry Excellence Academy for Theatrical and Media Make-up, you’ll learn the skills that will set you up for a career spent transforming people. These range from special effect artists with an average annual salary of £18,000 to photographic stylists with an average annual salary of £21,000.
