One look at the number of cranes dotted across the Manchester skyline will tell you that the construction sector is booming in the city. Demand is high for highly skilled tradesmen and professionals, from architects to joiners and plumbers, meaning there are endless career opportunities in the construction industry.  

In our Industry Excellence Academy for Construction and Engineering, you’ll start to build the skills base required for a fully developed career in this exciting industry. Depending on your career goals you'll also have the chance to speacialise in a specific trade, offering you the opportunity to begin mastering your craft.

You’ll be learning in a fully simulated working environment with industry standard equipment, which includes 9 specialist construction work areas, including bespoke areas for building service engineering, on-site construction, ground works and design, surveying and planning to name a few. 

You’ll receive dedicated ‘employability’ sessions with a named Employability Tutor to develop your skills and knowledge. In addition you will be allocated a dedicated Employability and Partnership Coordinator who will support you every step of the way helping to equip you with the skills you'll need to thrive in the workplace. 

Available Courses

In our Industry Excellence Academy for Construction and Engineering you’ll take a course that has been co-developed, and is co-delivered, by one of our leading industry partners. You’ll complete either a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and a placement with an industry employer of at least 15 days. 

By the time you complete your time in the Industry Excellence Academy for Construction and Engineering you’ll have developed an in-depth knowledge of this sector and gained work experience with industry leaders.


Studying in our Industry Excellence Academy for Construction and Engineering will open doors to the numerous careers that exist in construction. These range from a joiner, a career with an average yearly salary of £33,500, to an engineering technician with an average yearly salary of £33,000.
